Did you know candles have memory?
Otherwise, you might run into issues such as black smoke and tunnelling (when the candle doesn't burn evenly, causing dents in some areas but leaving the wax unburned in others).
Here's how to properly take care of your Atelier Berlin candle and ensure the candle's memory works in your favour.
Tip 1 - ALWAYS trim the wicks to about 0.5 cm before lighting your candle. This holds true for the first burn as well as all subsequent ones. Shorter wicks mean zero black smoke and dirty jars.
Tip 2 - When you first light your candle, make sure you let the top layer of wax melt completely. Not doing this may result in tunnelling. Your first burn may take over an hour for the wax to properly melt, so light your candle for the first time when you actually have time to fully enjoy the experience.
Letting your candle burn long enough also allows the fragrance to properly fill the room / space.
Tip 3 - When the candle is unlit, the wax is hard and the jar is not hot, use a damp cloth or tissue to gently wipe the jar inside and out to keep its pristine look.
Tip 4 - When you go long periods of time without lighting your candle, cover it with the lid to avoid dust, lint and dirt to collect on the wax and inside the jar.
There you have it: 4 tips to take care of your Atelier Berlin candle so it lasts longer.
Happy (safe) candle burning!
