Dear Reader,

Enjoy candles that are not mass produced in some factory somewhere, but that are slowly made with care in Berlin. 

"Slow" is the very essence of what we do: all candles are made by hand, in small batches. This adds a personal, almost intimate touch to every candle we make. 

The wax is carefully melted then infused with delightful fragrances and finally hand-poured in beautiful glass jars. The candles are then left to cure for at least 14 days, to allow the wax and fragrance to properly bind together and ensure a memorable olfactory experience. 

Atelier Berlin is a one-woman operation, born out of my flat in Berlin, that I transformed into an atelier. 

All candles are made by hand, by me. Me = Annick, a candle lover. I'm originally from Togo, west Africa, and I currently call Berlin home.

I spent a year failing a lot: selecting fragrances, experimenting with waxes, testing wicks, burning candles in different room sizes and different environments, choosing jars, designs and packaging. Hundreds of failed candles and designs later, I finally came up with recipes that performed well. 

The goal has always been to create high quality candles that I could not only personally enjoy, but that I could also confidently recommend to friends and family.

I believe I've succeeded in that objective and I'm so happy to share the candles with you!

So, if you do decide to indulge in our candles, I hope you enjoy the experience, knowing that a lot of thought and care went into making them. 

Ingredients matter too, so we want to be transparent about that.

All materials are meticulously chosen and sourced in Europe, to ensure a lower carbon footprint.

The wax we use is a blend of rapeseed and mineral wax, optimised entirely for scent throw. This makes our candles intense, but not overpowering. The wicks are made from cotton and the fragrances are toxin-free as well as cruelty-free.

When it comes to packaging, everything is meant to be reused, from the glass jars to the paper packaging our candles come in.
